PROCESS ENGINEER (PCBA/SMT) - County Clare. This role requires an individual with strong technical engineering experience in electronics, this person should be fully conversant with all aspects of PCBA manufacturing, including PCBA assembly and test processes. Extensive experience working on electronic products through the whole product life cycle, from design through prototyping to mass production. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication, organisation, negotiation, and project management skills to be successful in this role. Your primary focus will be to support NPI & cell based teams to achieve PCBA assembly and test productivity targets. The position is responsible for managing PCBA process to support NPI and production activities for defect prevention, quality improvement, on time delivery and cost reduction. This position will work with NPI, Quality and Production teams to continuously improve the PCBA process and capability. Key Responsibilities: • Responsible for all aspects of PCBA & Box Builds for assigned products in a NPI environment within a cross-functional team, from interacting with design team to managing prototype manufacturing (PCBA and mechanical), preparing Manufacturing Instructions, co-ordinating pilot runs, solving BOM, component and manufacturing issues, writing DFX reports and transferring products to manufacturing. • Prepare and determine manufacturing costs for inclusion in costs sheets. • Working with the design and external manufacturing partners to ensure that PCBA designs can be manufactured and tested at a competitive cost. • Evaluate, justify, and facilitate procurement of equipment, tooling, and materials; development and introduction of new processes as applicable to Print Circuit Board Assembly (PCBA) manufacturing, define requirements and specifications for equipment. • Process setup and programing SMT lines including: Screen printer, pick and place machine, reflow ovens, AOI & solder wave. • Determine & drive to completion all manufacturing changes that improve quality, lead time, cost, etc. • Hands-on experience in managing and resolving different issues across all processes related to PCBA manufacturing. • Identify, establish, and maintain strategic relationships within the industry for developing working relationships with equipment manufacturers and representatives to limit production delays associated with equipment failures and minimise downtime through maintenance support and response time. Interested applicants should have: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering related discipline. • In-depth knowledge of SMT and through-hole manufacturing. • 5 or more years’ experience in a PCBA manufacturing environment, ideally including some experience in EMS (Electronics Manufacturing Services. • Understanding of Gerber files and electronic circuit analysis. • Some knowledge of AOI, X-Ray, Flying Probe, ICT, Functional Test, Hipot, Burn-in etc. • Ideally experience of medical & automotive device standards ISO 13485 & TS 16949, ISO 9000, • Six Sigma green belt, IPC-610 workmanship standards, FMEA, Gauge R&R & DOE’s. • DFM / DFT, Lean Manufacturing, BOM management & ECN process. Ability to read basic schematics, skilled in the use of standard debug tools, multimeters, oscilloscopes and network analyser.
